Why Microsoft’s Second Generation Tablet Still Holds Another Chance?

Testing

While most of us were not satisfied by the Microsoft’s Surface and thought that Microsoft made far too many compromises in a device that was a replacement for both tablet and regular laptop. The Surface what seems to be will manage to secure its place among the top tablet makers with its second generation tablet. But the most important thing to watch is whether consumers get interested, or shrug their shoulders?

In my opinion, Surface, as it stands now, is a unique device with plenty to offer that its rivals don’t have. Its Intel Core i5 is the same processor found in the entry-level MacBook Air. But the fact remains that it still didn’t succeed in gaining traction in the market. However, it might be useful to look at the features below – that may raise its profile in the second-generation.

7-inch Screen

Microsoft is going small with its Surface. The new Surface device will feature a 7-inch display to meet the rising demand for smaller tablet devices. This could be a big win-win for Microsoft as there are relatively very few tablets that run on small displays.

New Generation XBOX

Rumors suggest that Microsoft is prepping to unveil its next generation Xbox games and media consoles. This means that the new Surface is designed to interact with Xbox in a more evolved way and will be sold with heavy entertainment and family focus. This might prove to be a very compelling reason for consumers to choose Surface over Android and iPad for game-availability advantage.

Longer Battery Life

One of the big problems that Surface faced was a short battery life that lasted for just about 4 hours. With Intel promising big gains in battery life for the next generation of its Core i-series on which the Surface Pro runs, the problem might be solved. The users can expect six or more hours of battery life that many  Ultrabooks  can reach.

New Specifications

Last but not the least, the forthcoming Surface will definitely see new technologies including NFC and LTE as well as, potentially, wireless charging.

In spite of these improvements, it will be interesting to see how Surface Pro performs in the market. In my belief it is an extremely capable device, but it still isn’t as powerful as many laptops and is the most expensive among all. So, will Microsoft make it work? Only time will tell if the future holds something in-store for Windows tablets.
