Bengaluru: Sean Narayanan, CEO of digital technology services firm Apexon, said the company’s growth rate has surged over the past two years to 18-20%, from the 5-6% it was doing in the preceding years.
The US and Bengaluru based company added over 1,200 employees over the past year. The company currently has 5,000 employees, with 3,500 of them in India.
Apexon was founded as Technosoft in 1996 by Radha Krishnan and Genga Ramamoorthy.
Krishnan had previously worked at Tata Consulting and Ford. Ramamoorthy began her career in education as a teaching associate with the Government College of Engineering in Tirunelveli, and later joined Kelly Services to support Ford as an MIS systems analyst.
Technosoft was rebranded as Apexon in April last year as part of its strategy to hyper focus on improving customers' technology environments and digital experiences by leveraging analytics, AI, and cloud. The bulk of the company’s work is with auto & manufacturing, healthcare, and banking and insurance.
“In auto, we translate visual data into actionable insights in real-time. We automate the labeling process for live street footage from various daytime conditions and locations to identify objects such as vehicles, streetlights, and pedestrians,” Narayanan said.
He said their teams consist of 7-9 people who work deeply with customers. “Apexon experience and analytics studios bring in different types of people such as UI designers, architects, analysts, data experience professionals, domain professionals. They interact with customers to create solutions. This problem-solving approach has helped us a lot,” he said.
Narayanan said design thinking, as a soft skill has not been considered a priority in the past, but the company is now running training sessions in design thinking. “We are in need of talent who understand the technology and solution, as well as how it can be correctly applied to suit specific situations and use cases,” he said.
