What Does Testing Mean to You?

Yesterday, I went on a short drive to check with my Apexon Associate on what testing means to them. And as you’d see below, I found some very fascinating answers from these bug finders. So here goes…

“Some will say It is my life because I am a tester, Some others think it is a methodology which a tester uses to verifiy that the system under test is meeting the defined set of requirements, For a few geniuses testing is the THAT ‘high paying’ job which makes developers run for their $$$$, And, I would say — it is in my blood, It is in my DNA, and it is MY business.”

Rutesh Shah, President and CEO

Quality assurance makes sure the project will be completed based on the previously agreed specifications, standards and functionality required without defects and possible problems. It monitors and tries to improve the development process from the beginning of the project to ensure this. It is oriented to “prevention.”

“Software testing is oriented to “detection”. It is verifying a system, website or an application under controlled conditions. It’s intentionally making things go wrong when they should not and things happen when they should not.”

Nilesh Ruparelia, QA Lead

“It means to me to find THE bug! Most importantly it means becoming the real “end user customer” during testing and helping the developer to put a (close to) perfect product on the market to avoid user dissatisfaction, hence helping the developer to be successful with his own product.”

Isabelle Fateh, QA Engineer

“QA is the process of determining  whether product meets customer’s expectation. And testing is the process of identifying whether product works the way it’s designed or not. With the help of testing we can find it out if there is any problem or not.”

Gaurav Sharma, Telemarketing Executive

“In a nutshell, I believe testing is the process of “diagnosing a website’s ability to adjust to different aspects of the user’s activity and existing compatibility. QA is all about “enhancing the website’s compatibility and features, with an added dimension of discovering various channels for increased productivity with new age software development.”

Kalpesh Patel, BD Executive

“Testing is not only used to find bugs but it is also used for maintaining the premium quality of a product.”

Atiq Sayyed, QA Engineer

“Testing is observing things in depth in a different way and suggesting changes  as per requirements (if any).”

Vikrant Gawande, QA Engineer
