E-Commerce Conversion Optimisation Specialist (Shopify, Canada)

Role Overview

We are seeking an E-Commerce Conversion Optimisation Specialist to improve conversion performance for a Canadian Shopify store that consistently converts below its U.S. counterpart. This is primarily a commercial and customer-experience role rather than a traditional IT position. The specialist will analyze the end-to-end Canadian customer journey, identify points of friction and abandonment, correct analytics and tracking issues, and lead a structured experimentation program focused on improving conversion rate and revenue per visitor. The ideal candidate combines strong direct-to-consumer e-commerce expertise with hands-on experience in Shopify, funnel analytics, conversion rate optimization, A/B testing, and e-commerce UX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze the end-to-end e-commerce funnel to identify where Canadian shoppers abandon or experience friction in the customer journey.
  • Compare customer behavior and conversion performance across the Canadian and U.S. Shopify storefronts to identify meaningful performance gaps.
  • Review, validate, and correct analytics, campaign tracking, pixels, and conversion-tracking configurations.
  • Diagnose and resolve site, Shopify theme, browser, device, and performance-related issues that affect conversion.
  • Develop and manage a structured conversion rate optimization and A/B testing roadmap.
  • Formulate hypotheses, define success metrics, prioritize tests, and evaluate experiment results.
  • Improve the usability and customer experience of product, collection, cart, and checkout pages.
  • Use quantitative analytics and customer-behavior insights to recommend conversion improvements.
  • Monitor and report the impact of implemented changes on conversion rate, revenue per visitor, and related e-commerce performance indicators.
  • Partner with marketing, design, e-commerce, and other stakeholders to prioritize and implement improvements.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, commercially focused recommendations and measurable actions.

  • Hands-on experience improving UX/UI across: Product detail pages, Collection or category pages, Cart experiences, Checkout journeys and Strong working knowledge of Shopify.
  • Ability to diagnose Shopify theme and site-performance issues across browsers and devices.
  • Experience with Liquid themes and Shopify Markets.
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager.
  • Experience with Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar.
  • Working knowledge of Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
  • Experience using an experimentation platform such as VWO, Convert, or Optimizely.
