Role Summary
Job Title: Technical Project Manager – IT Infrastructure
Experience: 12+ years of overall experience, including at least 6+ years in IT infrastructure project management
Location: Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, or Ahmedabad
Work Model: Hybrid
Apexon is seeking a senior Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of medium-to-large IT infrastructure and technology initiatives from initiation through implementation and closure. The role will be accountable for aligning Infrastructure, Engineering, Database, Network, Security, Application, Validation/Testing, PMO, business, vendor, and other technical teams around clearly defined outcomes. Success in this role means delivering complex infrastructure programs with disciplined control of scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, quality, technical dependencies, and operational readiness. This is a project and delivery leadership role, not an infrastructure engineering or technical-owner position. The successful candidate must have sufficient technical depth to engage credibly with technical SMEs, identify cross-platform dependencies, challenge delivery gaps, surface implementation risks, and drive accountable decisions without replacing the engineering authority of Infrastructure Engineers, DBAs, Network Engineers, Security Engineers, Application SMEs, or Technical Owners.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver multiple infrastructure projects across servers, virtual machines, Windows/UNIX, networks, databases, cloud, storage, backup, firewalls, monitoring, security controls, and ITSM platforms.
Build and maintain integrated project, migration, and implementation plans covering scope, schedules, budgets, resources, milestones, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
Coordinate technical SMEs, business teams, vendors, and PMO stakeholders to achieve implementation readiness and timely delivery.
Manage scope, financials, risks, issues, dependencies, resource constraints, quality, and project changes.
Lead readiness assessments, playbook reviews, CAB approvals, Go/No-Go meetings, migration events, cutovers, validation, contingency planning, and rollback coordination.
Identify cross-system dependencies, integration points, operational impacts, and technical risks requiring SME or leadership intervention.
Maintain dashboards, RAID logs, KPIs, decision logs, issue tracking, and project-governance documentation.
Ensure CMDB, monitoring, service-transition, and operational-support updates are completed following implementation.
Facilitate post-implementation reviews, resolve outstanding issues, and capture lessons learned.
Support after-hours or weekend implementations and cutovers when required.
Ensure delivery meets applicable quality, security, audit, regulatory, validation, and IT-control requirements.
Mandatory Skills Required
12+ years of professional experience, including at least 6+ years managing IT infrastructure projects.
Bachelor’s degree.
Proven delivery of medium-to-large infrastructure implementations, migrations, data-center programs, and cloud initiatives.
Working knowledge of Windows, UNIX, servers, virtual machines, networks, databases, cloud, storage, backup, firewalls, monitoring, and security controls.
Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM platform.
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or similar delivery and defect-management tools.
Strong experience in integrated planning, budget management, vendor management, RAID management, KPIs, CAB processes, and cutover coordination.
Experience delivering projects in regulated or compliance-controlled environments.
Strong stakeholder management, executive communication, facilitation, and matrix-team leadership skills.
Certification in at least one of the following: PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum.
Willingness to support implementations outside normal business hours.
Nice to Have Skills
Healthcare or life-sciences experience.
COTS product implementation experience.
PMO or Project Management Center of Excellence experience.
Familiarity with Oracle, PeopleSoft, PMI processes, Lean Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement methods.
